Da Da da da da
Lucas has been toying around with the "d" sound for some time now (mostly in his cries), but this morning he started saying da da da...!!!!! He is so funny... he will start out whispering d, d, d and then he will let out a (short) string of da da da da. So cute!!!!
It's getting better!
Well, we stuck with the big boy baths in the tub without giving in and going back to the sink... and it is getting better! We just had to figure out what works for us.... Lucas likes to sit in the blue seat (with a towel around the front piece to provide comfort when he "scoots") with the water up high for optimal splashing and playing with toys. Then, we let all the water out except for a couple of inches and he sits on a big sponge while I bathe him... much easier to get to all of him, and it is much easier to lean him back so the shampoo and water don't get in his eyes. It is killing my back, but we have a squeaky clean (and happy) boy!

Not as easy as I thought it would be...
I tried giving Lucas his bath in the big tub last night (his sink baths have become more difficult... I am the one who generally ends up soaked head to toe these days.. lol). It did not go over so well. I thought the transition would be so smooth; I never expected it to be harder! First of all, Lucas wasn't fond of the seat... he kept wiggling and I was afraid he was going to hurt himself... hard plastic doesn't show mercy the way that the soft things he is accustomed to do. Then, he couldn't reach the rubber ducks floating in the water.. and I couldn't get underneath him to bathe all his "2000 parts"..... oh my .... it was a disaster! I am most certain we will be back in the sink tonight.... I am open for any suggestions.....

Chunky Monkey!
Lucas had his 6 month appointment this morning. I am happy to report that all has gone well, so far. (I am still a little worried about fever creeping up on us overnight from the vaccinations.) He weighed in at 20 pounds 8 ounces and has grown to 28 inches tall (90th percentile... not too bad for a premie, huh?)! I love the chub! He is such a tough guy... he hardly even cried when the nurse gave him his two shots. He was too busy showing out for all the ladies while we were there (so much like his daddy..lol).

Vacation
We are happy to be back home, but were really sad to leave Hilton Head! We had such a wonderful time with Nana and Big Daddy (and Allen, Kay, Chase, and Jaden for the first few nights)! By the time we left, Lucas still wasn't too sure about the beach thing, but decided that he needs his own pool in his backyard... the bathtub just isn't enough now! lol He absolutely loved all of the outside time. He was fascinated by all of the nature that surrounded us... and the boats and people, too. We all can't wait to go back!
David had lots of fun on his fishing trip, even though it turned out to be a bit of a bust. He caught 2 reef sharks (Daddy also caught one, and mine came off the hook just as I got it to the boat), but try as we might, the cobia were just not biting. In fact, when we returned to the docks, only one other boat caught one single cobia during the whole day. Oh well... that's why they call it fishing, not catching. We had fun, that's the important thing!
