Lucas had his ENT appointment with Dr. Novelly in Fayetteville this morning. He definitely agreed that Lucas needed ear tubes to help with the drainage issues in his little ears. Even with the antibiotics that he is on, the infection looks better but there was still lots of fluid present in both ears.... meaning there is a good chance he will get another infection as soon as he goes off his antibiotic this week. :o( We opted for the first available date for the surgery... next Thursday October 8th at Scottish Rite Hospital. It will be a minor procedure... only mask anesthesia (light sleep)... I will get to be with him until he falls asleep.... the procedure will only take a few minutes and he should be back to feeling himself by that evening. David and I both have a few butterflies, but ultimately we are happy that relief is in sight. Our little sweetie has had such an ordeal with these infections... we are ready to put them behind us!

Monday's ENT Appointment
As you will see in these pictures Lucas is trying so hard to crawl and he can "scoot" around on his bottom now... in other words, he has discovered he can get into almost everything he wants!

Snack Time!
Lucas is really enjoying his afternoon snacktime so much! He goes bananas for "little crunchies" (baby cheetos) and cheese. He is doing better with his sippy cup, too. Soft spout sippies rock!
Even though you can't tell it from the pictures, Lucas woke up with sniffles and another high fever today. He was the first patient seen this morning by Ms. Diana (the nurse practitioner at our peds office). It seems that he has another ear infection (after only being well from the last one for about 6 days). She went ahead and gave us a referral to a pediatric ENT for tubes. We should hear back from them sometime tomorrow with our appointment date. I am dreading the actual procedure as I know it will be most uncomfortable for Lucas, but I have to admit I am also excited that all this infection mess will hopefully be ending soon.

Save the Date!
Mark your calendars... we will celebrate Lucas' first birthday on Saturday, November 21. I've already got some great entertainment and food lined up for the big event. I hope you can make plans to come... we are excited and ready to PARTY!
"Flutter Fest" at Oakhurst
We were all getting a little tired (and warm) by this point...
We visited Oakhurst Farm today for "flutter fest." It is such a beautiful place for taking pictures with Lucas' wonderful grandparents on Grandparents Day! We enjoyed our time together very much... we just wish the temperature had been a little cooler! :o)
Playing
We're so glad Lucas is feeling better! He had another double ear infection (4th one in the past 6 months... his doctor says we will consider tubes if he has 6 within a year). And, if that wasn't enought discomfort, the poor thing had hand, foot, and mouth disease. He broke out in little red bumps everywhere! Thursday was the first day he started feeling more like his playful little self. He loves zooming around in his walker, and eventhough the dishwasher is usually latched and off limits, I let him "play" with it for a few minutes... he is just facinated by it.
